FAQ

What is the difference between the GA MOPA and GA Auto Focus models?

The main difference lies in the laser source and functionality. The GA MOPA models use MOPA fiber laser technology, allowing precise control over pulse width and frequency—ideal for colour marking on stainless steel, high-contrast anodized aluminium, and delicate materials. The GA Auto Focus models, on the other hand, focus on convenience and productivity with automatic height adjustment but use a standard fiber laser source. If you need fine detail and versatility, go MOPA. If you need fast, consistent marking with less manual adjustment, go Auto Focus.

Can I engrave in colour with these machines?

Yes, but only the GA MOPA models support colour marking. With the adjustable pulse width and frequency, MOPA technology enables vibrant colour effects on stainless steel and titanium. The GA Series do not support colour marking.

What materials can the GA series engrave?

Both GA MOPA Series and GA Series can engrave and mark a wide range of metals and some plastics, including:Stainless SteelAluminium (raw and anodized)Brass & CopperGold & SilverTitaniumABS, PVC, PolycarbonateBlack/White plastics for markingMOPA models offer enhanced results on coated surfaces and soft plastics due to adjustable pulse settings.

Do I need to manually focus the machine before engraving?

Not with the GA series—they feature motorised Z-axis adjustment for fast and precise focusing. GA MOPA models come with semi-auto focus, requiring a manual step with the built-in focus locator.

Is this machine suitable for batch production or industrial use?

Yes. With features like fast engraving speed (up to 10,000 mm/s), durable build, and high-precision galvo scanning, both GA MOPA Series and GA Series are ideal for industrial settings and small-scale production alike.

What warranty and support do I get?

Monport provides:
2-year warranty on the laser source 1-year warranty on other components Lifetime technical support via email, phone, and video calls
